Mission

My purpose is to raise awareness and urge political pressure to end the Genocide in Darfur, the crisis in the Congo, and the displaced residents and child soldiers of Uganda.

Since 2005 I've been trying to find out more about what is happening in Darfur & Uganda – I’ve signed every petition I could find to help its people. My next step was developing a website for these two regions that I am most passionate about.  I have also recently added the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to my focus.

On Sept. 25th, my husband and I attended an event called “Voices from Darfur.”  We watched video and heard real stories from 3 men who are from Darfur and were recently rescued.  When the first man started to speak, he said his purpose in being here was to tell their stories.  He said, “I believe if the people know what is happening, they will help to stop it.”  That sentence struck me.  They were here to speak to us, to tell us what is happening because they believe that if we know what is going on, we will help them!

Wow, I felt like I had missed a homework assignment and had been provided with a mission - one I was late on.  I honestly felt like the 4 million displaced people who are currently sitting there, devastated, truly believe we are over here working on their behalf.  Are we? A line on one of the handouts said it best – “And what will history say about us if we don’t?”

I already knew we were living in a current-day systematic extermination of a race, and I was already enraged that not enough was being done about it. But this time, it hit me differently and with a much greater sense of urgency when these men told us that they believe we are working to help them!  At that point I decided I would do whatever I could.  How could I let them down?  How could we as a country let this happen all over again?  They are not asking for money or military strikes, they are simply asking for international peace keepers.  All they want is for us to do anything we can to apply international pressure. They want their stories told. They are simply asking us to be their messenger.

This site is created with one purpose: Be aware of what is happening, and send their message.
