Why Africa?I believe Africa has been sitting somewhere in the back of my being since my early teens. This is where my passion for Uganda began. Elie Wiesel (a Holocaust survivor) has been a favorite author of mine since I first read Night at the age of 14. When I heard him speak about the genocide in Darfur a short time later, it definitely caught my attention. 2.5 million displaced people, 400,000+ people dead. This is a government killing its own. This is where my passion for Darfur began. I believe everyone has a cause they feel is worth fighting for. For some people it’s cancer, or domestic violence, or feeding the homeless. All are very worthy causes, and all are based on helping people in need. Consider the amount of progress that’s been made in Breast Cancer because so many people have decided to take action. For me, my cause is Africa. Whatever your cause may be, stand for it. Without standing for something, nothing would ever change. Be part of a movement. Be part of history.
